JCB is marked a major milestone this year as the iconic manufacturer celebrated its 80th anniversary with a special gesture for its workforce.

More than 19,000 employees across 22 global plants received an extra day’s holiday on Friday, October 24th, recognising their invaluable contribution to the company’s long-standing success.

In the UK alone, over 8,000 staff based in Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Wrexham enjoyed a long weekend as part of the celebration.

Founded on October 23rd, 1945, by Joseph Cyril Bamford CBE in a small lock-up garage in Uttoxeter, JCB has grown from humble beginnings into a global powerhouse producing more than 350 machines for construction and agriculture.

Leadership passed to Lord Bamford in 1975, who has driven the company’s expansive international growth.

“JCB would be nowhere without our employees,” Lord Bamford said. “This extra day’s holiday was a small token of our family’s gratitude.”
