Latest figures from the FTMTA, compiled using monthly raw data supplied by the Irish Revenue Commissioners, indicate a positive trend in construction equipment registrations during 2025, with notable increases across telescopic loaders, wheeled loaders and backhoe loaders.

The Irish market for new telescopic loaders remained stable in November 2025, with 33 units registered, unchanged from November 2024. However, year-to-date performance shows strong growth, with registrations up 21.77% to 744 units for the first eleven months of 2025, compared with 611 units over the same period last year. Manitou and JCB continued to dominate the sector, jointly accounting for 72% of the market. Used imports also increased, with 69 imported telescopic loaders registered in November, up from 43 a year earlier.

The wheeled loader segment recorded significant growth, with 15 new machines registered in November 2025, compared with 9 in November 2024 – a 66% increase. From January to November, 191 new wheeled loaders were registered. Used imports remained steady at five units for the month.

In the backhoe loader market, November 2025 saw an increase year-on-year, with three new machines registered. Three used backhoes were also imported during the month. For the year to date, new backhoe registrations totalled 52 units, matching the same period in 2024.

Overall, the figures point to resilient demand and steady confidence in Ireland’s construction and plant hire sectors as 2025 draws to a close.
