Kilsaran has officially opened a major new precast production facility in Arthurstown, near Kill, Co. Kildare, significantly increasing Ireland’s capacity to deliver vital residential units.
The state-of-the-art plant is now the largest twin-wall precast facility ever commissioned in Ireland, marking a major strategic investment by the company as it supports accelerated, sustainable construction nationwide.
Established in 2021, Kilsaran Precast has quickly become one of Ireland and the UK’s leading suppliers of structural precast solutions, providing products for residential, hospitality, life sciences, education and large-scale commercial projects.
The Arthurstown plant joins existing operations in Oranmore, Galway, and Brownstown, Kildare, further strengthening Kilsaran’s fully integrated offering—from design and manufacture to delivery and installation.
Kilsaran is a family-owned, Irish-run business celebrating 61 years in operation. The company mines raw materials from its own quarries and manufactures end products across 30 Irish locations and one in the UK.
A proud member of Guaranteed Irish, Kilsaran employs over 1,100 people and works with up to 400 subcontractors across six business units: Paving & Walling; Road Surfacing & Contracting; KPRO Dry Mortar; Precast; Concrete Products & Aggregates; and Materials Recovery & Recycling.
Sustainability remains central to Kilsaran’s mission. The business has significantly reduced embodied carbon in its precast products and, in 2024, introduced Ireland’s first electric concrete trucks.
This initiative forms part of the company’s ESG Responsible Business Strategy, structured around the pillars of Planet, People, Solutions and Performance, and aligned with the UN Sustainability Goals, the Paris Agreement and Ireland’s Climate Action Plan.
Speaking at the opening, Minister for Housing James Browne highlighted the importance of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) in meeting national housing targets. Kilsaran Co-CEOs David and Derry McKeown confirmed the new Arthurstown facility will support output of up to 4,000 apartment units per year.
