The National Ploughing Championships 2025 will come to Screggan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, from Tuesday 16th to Thursday 18th September, promising three days of agricultural innovation, machinery showcases, and rural community spirit.

Recognised as Europe’s largest outdoor event, this year’s Championships will feature leading agri and plant machinery brands alongside food, lifestyle, and livestock attractions.

Machinery & Product Launches
The Ploughing remains the ultimate shop window for the agri and plant machinery sector.

Confirmed launches include:

  • Connacht Agri Supplies – Triple Product Launch:• Ireland’s Newest Automatic RFID
  • Solar Ration Feeder – a fully solar-powered, off-grid solution for up to 300 cattle, RFID-controlled for precision feeding.
  • CALFLO RFID Computerised Automatic Calf Feeder – Ireland’s most affordable automatic calf feeder, improving calf growth and reducing labour.

Schäffer will unveil the 8620T-3 and 9640T-3 telescopic wheel loaders, featuring larger comfort cabins, improved visibility, modern controls, advanced safety features, and lift capacities up to 4.2 tonnes.

Competitions & Livestock

The Championships will host 350 ploughing competitors in 28 competitions over three days, with national titles and qualification spots for the World, European, and Five Nations events at stake.

Visitors can look forward to a stronger-than-ever livestock showcase, featuring Irish Angus, Irish Aberdeen Angus, Irish Aubrac, Shorthorn, Simmental, Hilltop Farm Charolais, Fleckvieh, and John Kelly Friesian.

Highlights include the Certified Irish Angus School Competition and the Irish Aberdeen Angus All-Ireland Final on Tuesday. Sheep enthusiasts can enjoy the Sheep Tunnel, home to over 15 breeds and 50 animals, alongside sheep shearing demonstrations and competitions.

Food & Lifestyle
The Agri Food Fayre will return with artisan produce, cookery demonstrations, and celebrity chef appearances.

Midlands Flavours
The new Midlands Flavours stand is a vibrant showcase of local food and drink producers from Laois, Longford, Offaly, and Westmeath. Visitors can sample and purchase everything from artisan jams and chocolates to locally distilled spirits and honey.

Producers include Skinny Chef, Jungle Foods, G’s Jams, Daily Dose, Farmhouse Bees and Trees, Heartland Orchards, Lough Ree Distillery, Feighery’s Beetroot, Biasol, Wild Irish Foragers, Fore Distillery, Barbavilla, Magico, Love Food, and An Olivia Chocolates. There will also be live cookery demonstrations.

Movember
Visitors can join Movember in launching The Real Face of Men’s Health Report, a first of its kind snapshot of men’s wellbeing in Ireland. The stand will offer live shaves, games, giveaways, and the chance to join the movement to change the statistics around men’s health.

University College Cork

UCC will showcase its diverse and future-focused academic programmes, including degrees in Agricultural Science, Nutritional Sciences, Food Marketing and an innovative new BSc in Sustainability launching in 2026.

Engineers Ireland
The Engineers Ireland stand promises an immersive, interactive experience. Highlights include:

  • F1 Car Simulator – feel the thrill of racing while exploring the mechanics of engineering.
  • Lincoln Electric VR Welder – try your hand at welding in a realistic virtual environment.
  • The Space Store Experience – a spacewalk simulation and treasure hunt led by a former NASA engineer.
  • Biomedical Engineering Showcase – examine 3D models of an artificial heart and spine.
  • Collaborative Robot Game – a fun introduction to robotics and automation.

The STEPS Programme team will also be on hand with career advice for students, parents, and teachers.

The Ploughing and FBD: Keeping You Safe child safety wristband project will be an important feature again this year, Over 40,000 of the safety wristbands will be handed-out at the event entrances by FBD staff, with space for a contact phone number, offering peace of mind should a child become separated from their group
