Merlo stepped into the spotlight for the first time in its own right at this year’s National Ploughing Championship 2024.
With the recent establishment of a dedicated dealer network for the Republic of Ireland. Dealers FJS Plant Ltd of Naas, Co. Kilkenny, and Jim Power Agri Sales Ltd of Tallow, Co. Waterford have been appointed to represent Merlo.
Merlo were excited to showcase a diverse array of construction and agricultural machinery at this prestigious event.
Highlights include machines from the cutting-edge hydrostatic telehandler range, a class-leading 360-degree rotating ROTO model with a remarkable 30m lift height, and two versatile compact tracked dumper models. Each Merlo machine is designed with unique features that prioritise comfort, safety, and sustainability.
Spotlight on the Construction Range
At the Show, visitors saw, from the construction range, the 75hp, compact P27.6PLUS. Despite its small size—only 1.86m wide and 1.96m high—this Panoramic telehandler offers an impressive lift capacity of 2.7 tonnes and a lift height of 6 meters.
Also on display was the P40.17PLUS telehandler, featuring a 4-tonne lift capacity and an impressive 17-meter lift height. This machine is equipped with front stabilisers to ensure greater stability and safety when handling loads at higher working heights, making it one of Merlo’s key offerings to the construction market.
Despite their robust capabilities, Merlo’s stabilisers do not extend beyond the machine’s overall width, ensuring exceptional accessibility. The PLUS model comes equipped with hydraulic frame levelling, boom side shift and Merlo’s unique ASCS (Adaptive Stability Control System), which offers an in-cab, live load chart, display. Additionally, Merlo’s innovative attachment recognition system automatically adjusts the power and response speed of hydraulic functions based on the attachment used, load weight, and load position, further enhancing safety and efficiency.
There’s more to the Telehandler Line Up
In addition to the compact and stabilised models on display at the National Ploughing Championships, Merlo’s construction range extends to include a wide variety of models suited for different applications. For instance, the P120.10 high-load capacity telehandler can lift up to 12 tonnes with 10m lift height, making it ideal for heavy-duty tasks.
For those focused on sustainability, Merlo’s 2 WD and 4 WD, 100% electric eWorkers models offer zero emissions, and an 8 hour run time on a single charge. These machines are designed to completely reduce noise levels and polluting emissions, offer excellent manoeuvrability in confined spaces and significantly lower operating costs. With a 2.5 lift capacity and a lift height of up to 5m, these next generation telehandlers meet the needs of the municipal infrastructure, construction, and industrial sectors.
Merlo’s Rotating Telehandler: The ROTO
Well known in the construction world, Merlo will showcase the rotating ROTO 50.30 S PLUS at the event. This model features a Stage V 170 hp engine, a 5-tonne capacity, and a maximum lift height of up to 30m. Rotating models like the ROTO offer a greater range of movement than fixed telehandlers, thanks to their rotating turret and multi-stage boom.
The S PLUS model is equipped with dual hydraulic load-sensing pumps, a hydraulic tilting cab for maximum operator comfort, and automatic management of the multi-position stabilisers as standard, ensuring greater safety, comfort, and unparalleled efficiency. With road speeds of up to 40 km/h and class-leading stability due to dynamic load monitoring, it is ideal for a wide range of applications and delivers exceptional performance whether tree felling or bridge building.
CINGO Tracked Carriers: Mobility and Precision
Completing Merlo’s line-up at this year’s event were the innovative Cingo tracked carriers. Powered by a hydrostatic track motor driving durable rubber tracks, these carriers offer enhanced mobility and stability. The hydrostatic system, combined with fingertip, hydraulic servo-assisted controls, enables the operator to steer with precision and safety.
Two dumper models on display: the compact M500DM, powered by a 5.5hp Honda petrol engine, with a 500kg load capacity and a hydraulic tipping dumper body, it measures just 690mm wide is perfect for passing through doorways.
The slightly more powerful High-Tip M700TD dumper, has been designed for excellent stability when tipping into skips and trailers. It measures 750mm wide has a 700kg capacity, and is powered by a 12hp Honda petrol engine. The Hi-Tip model also comes standard with a vibration-proof footplate, allowing the operator to ride rather than walk while operating the machine.
CINGO with telehandler attachment
Completing the tracked carrier line-up is the innovative and versatile CINGO M12.3EVO multifunction tracked tool carrier. The M12.3EVO is equipped with a powerful 21 hp diesel engine and durable rubber tracks for increased mobility and stability, allowing it to operate in any terrain.
The hydrostatic system with fingertip, hydraulic servo-assisted, controls enable the operator to safely steer and manage speed from a few meters per hour up to a maximum of 5 km/h with ease. The M12.3EVO can be fitted with the exclusive Merlo Handler 400 attachment, transforming the multifunction CINGO M12.3EVO into a compact telehandler. While the Handler 400 attachment comes as standard with pallet forks, a wide range of other attachments are available.
TreEmme X Series: High Performance Tool Carrier
Merlo’s TreEmme X Series tool carrier tractor, though less well known is, designed for operators who need a multi-purpose, high-performance machine that can tackle demanding work with ease. It features a 6-cylinder Stage V engine delivering 245 hp, hydrostatic transmission, with up to 285 l/min hydraulic output to power to the front attachment, such as a fixed tooth mulcher or soil stabiliser.
An infinite range of travel speeds up to 40 km/h thanks to the Merlo manufactured hydrostatic transmission. Shod on high specification 600/55-26.5 Nokian T440 tyres, equipped with three steering modes and a low centre of gravity these specialist units can reach areas often inaccessible to conventional tractors.
Built for robustness, the MM250X is reinforced with robust hardened steel plating in the most exposed areas, and the cab is compliant with FOPS, ROPS, and OPS standards. It also features anti-shatter, ballistic-proof composite windows, making it clear why this permanent 4-wheel drive tool carrier tractor is primarily used in forestry and land clearance applications. However, many other three-point linkage attachments are available, offering countless rugged applications in the toughest environments.
