Australian-born Lockie Phillips has come a long way to the parish of Loentia in Lugo in Spain, where he established EMOTIONAL HORSEMANSHIP, a company dedicated to horse breeding and training.
It is hard not to notice the importance the horses he shares hold for him. It is also no coincidence that he is what is popularly known in Spain as a ‘horse whisperer’ after the endearing film from the late 1990s in which Robert Redford played a trainer with an extraordinary closeness and connection with horses.
Lockie was introduced to Bobcat through the countless types of agricultural and public works equipment he saw in the numerous destinations where he worked before arriving in Galicia, including Switzerland, Germany, Poland, as well as Canada and the United States, the birthplace of the Bobcat brand.
When he decided to add a Bobcat CT2040 compact tractor to his small equestrian farm, he did not hesitate. It had to be a Bobcat. He contacted Talleres Turquino of the Epromext group, the distributor for Galicia, which had already added Bobcat compact tractors to its range of available equipment.
Maximum versatility available with its quick hitch
He quickly came to several conclusions: he wanted a hydrostatic transmission for its convenience; the right size would be 40 HP, and therefore his model was the CT2040HST. He needed a front loader to load the huge bales of straw intended for his equestrian activity, as well as pallet forks to facilitate handling.
After Talleres Turquino’s first visit, they decided it would be a good idea to also add a conventional pallet rack. This is a super easy task on a Bobcat tractor, as it has a ‘Bob-Tach’ quick-release hitch on its loader, allowing it to attach any compatible loader attachment. In addition, a counterweight was also installed at the rear of the tractor for handling heavier loads.
A machine that simplifies daily tasks
Lockie Phillips says he has been able to clear many areas of his farm thanks to the Bobcat CT2040 tractor. He even tells an anecdote in which he rescued a driver who had driven his car into a ditch with it. But it is certainly worth noting that thanks to the work he does with this tractor, he has a much better prepared riding area, he can comfortably transport his feed, and generally makes all the farm work easier.
