Despite estimates that the overall market for construction plant equipment in the Republic of Ireland has declined year-on-year by a slim 3-5% – most evident at the entry level where sales rely heavily on demand from the hire sector – Komatsu distributor McHale Plant Sales is reporting a ‘buoyant performance’ overall.

According to Denis McGrath, sales director at the Tipperary and Dublin-based company, sales of heavy excavators and wheel loaders have “risen an average 20% and upwards” with dozer sales also featuring in the mix.

Looking ahead to year-end, their forecast is that full-year figures will be “the best since the pandemic”.
