Plant, powered access and tool hire specialist Plantool Hire Centres has opened a new, larger depot – so is taking the opportunity to invest in new, larger equipment.

The latest addition to its growing powered access fleet is the LGMG AS1413E, an electric scissor lift with a maximum working height of 15.8m.

Plantool Hire Centres operates six depots across the Central and East Midlands and has just moved its Warwick operation to more spacious and modern premises on the town’s Heathcote Industrial Estate.

Company Director Ben Jones said this has allowed investment in larger machines, like the LGMG AS1413E, supplied by Access Platform Sales (APS).

For smaller, but growing plant and powered access specialists, this relationship between storage capacity and the size of machines stocked is an important one.

“It’s exciting to now have the capacity to scale up our powered access offer with the purchase of bigger LGMG scissor lifts,” said Ben Jones.

“Our LGMG platforms are very popular with customers and they’re designed to be easy for rental specialists like us to maintain, so I’m very glad to take them,” he added.

“APS is also very good to do business with. They’ve always been very fair with us on ways to structure finance and support packages that make it easier for us to invest.”

APS is the UK and Ireland distributor for LGMG access platforms. Its Key Accounts Director, Linda Betts, said: “It’s great to hear Ben’s customers have been impressed with his new LGMG scissor lifts.

“They’re designed from the bottom up to be simple to use. LGMG also has a brilliant, intuitive onboard diagnostics system, so customers can much more quickly find and fix faults or respond to sensor alerts.

“This is important, both for customers and for busy powered access hire specialists like Plantool Hire Centres. It eliminates frustrating delays to completing jobs and the need for hire company intervention.”

Plantool Hire Centres currently operates three LGMG electrical scissor lift models, the LGMG AS0607E, the LGMG AS1212E, and the LGMG AS1413E, all of which can be operated indoors and outdoors.

The LGMG AS0607E has a maximum working height of 7.8m, Its platform has a capacity of 230kg, is 1,630m long and 740mm wide, with a 900mm extension deck.

The LGMG AS1212E has a maximum working height of 12m. Again, its platform has a 230kg capacity, is 2,260mm long and 1,120mm wide, with a 900mm extension deck.

The LGMG AS1413E scissor lift has a lift capacity of 320kg. Its platform is 2640mm long, 1,120mm wide and also has a 900mm extension deck. Like all three scissor lifts, it provides full height drive.

All three scissor lifts have direct drive electric motors that contribute to longer battery life and minimise hydraulic oil spill risk, and proportional drive and lift controls for smoother, more precise operation.

They also share the same operating system, so Plantool Hire Centre’s customers can switch between platforms with ease.

The LGMG scissors lifts can be hired through Plantool Hire Centres depots in Daventry and Kettering, in Northamptonshire, Stratford Upon Avon and Nuneaton, in Warwickshire, and Lutterworth, in Leicestershire, as well as the new Warwick depot.
