Rototilt UK has celebrated a standout machine launch at ScotPlant, with Owen Gillard Groundworks unveiling a striking new JCB 4CX fitted with a specially finished black Rototilt RC3 tiltrotator.
The machine, supplied as a limited edition JCB 4CX and painted in a bold black finish, drew plenty of attention at the show, not only for its appearance but for the specialist attachment package fitted to it. At the centre of the build is a Rototilt RC3 with a black-painted rotor housing and QC45 QuickChange set-up, creating a machine that combines head-turning looks with serious capability on site.
The launch also marked an important moment for Rototilt’s presence in Scotland, with Solway Machinery Sales now appointed as the Rototilt dealer for Scotland. The appointment strengthens Rototilt’s dealer support in the region and gives Scottish contractors a dedicated local point of contact for Rototilt tiltrotators, attachments, service and support.
The story behind the build began in Vindeln, Sweden, where Owen Gillard of Owen Gillard Groundworks was invited to visit Rototilt Group AB’s manufacturing facility. Joining him on the trip were Les Aitchison of Solway Machinery Sales and Malcolm Long of Rototilt Limited.
Following a tour of the factory, Owen was given the moment he had been waiting for: the reveal of his new RC3 tiltrotator. Finished with a specially painted black rotor housing, the unit had been prepared to match the distinctive JCB 4CX and create a one-off package ready for its public debut at ScotPlant.
For Rototilt UK, the project was a fitting way to showcase both the brand’s engineering and its ability to support customers looking for a tailored solution. The RC3 sits in Rototilt’s popular compact-to-mid-range tiltrotator line-up and is designed for machines in the 6–12 tonne class, making it a well-matched choice for the 4CX platform. With its tilt and rotation capability, it gives operators far greater control when grading, shaping, trenching and working in restricted areas.
The addition of Rototilt QuickChange technology further enhances the machine’s working potential, allowing compatible attachments to be changed quickly and safely from the cab. For groundworks contractors, that ability to move between buckets and tools without repeatedly leaving the machine can make a major difference across a busy working day.
Owen Gillard said the factory visit and reveal made the project even more special.
“To see where the Rototilt units are built and then have my own RC3 revealed at the factory was a great experience,” he said. “The black finish looks incredible and paired with the JCB 4CX it has turned into a really unique machine. It is not just about looks either — this set-up is going to be a very useful tool for the type of work we do.”
Les Aitchison of Solway Machinery Sales added: “It has been great to be involved in bringing this machine together for Owen. The JCB 4CX is already a very capable machine, but with the Rototilt RC3 and QuickChange system fitted, it becomes a much more flexible package. The black finish gives it something extra and makes it a real showpiece.
“With Solway Machinery Sales now appointed as Rototilt dealer for Scotland, we are looking forward to supporting more customers across the region and helping contractors get the most from their machines through the right tiltrotator and attachment set-up.”
Malcolm Long of Rototilt Limited said the project demonstrated the strong relationship between manufacturer, dealer and customer.
“This was a special build for a special customer,” he said. “Owen is passionate about his machines and wanted something that would stand out while still delivering real working benefits. The RC3 with QuickChange gives him the control, flexibility and productivity advantages Rototilt is known for, while the black rotor housing ties the whole machine together perfectly.
“Solway Machinery Sales’ appointment as Rototilt dealer for Scotland is also an important step for us. Having the right local dealer support is essential, and Solway brings strong industry knowledge, customer relationships and on-the-ground support for Scottish operators.”
The machine was displayed on the Rototilt stand at ScotPlant, where visitors had the chance to see the finished package up close. Alongside other Rototilt products and attachments, Owen Gillard’s black JCB 4CX became one of the most distinctive machines on show, underlining the growing interest in tiltrotator technology across the UK and Irish groundworks market.
For Rototilt UK, the launch was more than a product display. It was a chance to tell the story of a customer-led project, from a factory visit in northern Sweden to a show stand in Scotland, while also highlighting the company’s growing dealer network and support for contractors in Scotland.
With its custom black finish, limited edition JCB base machine and anniversary-style Rototilt RC3, Owen Gillard’s new 4CX is a machine built to be noticed — but more importantly, built to work.
